Attractions: Shaolin Temple, on the slopes of Mt. Songshan, is renowned for its Shaolin martial arts that are so popular in China and the rest of the world. And Longmen Grottoes together with the Yungang Grottoes in Datong and the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, are the three major cave clusters in China. The over 2,100 grottoes have tens of thousands of statues of Buddha and more than forty Buddhist pagodas.

 

Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrival / Hong Kong
Transfer via: by air-own arrangement
Pikup from Hong Kong airport by our English speaking tour guide and transfer to your hotel. Free time for the rest of the day. Recommend you to take the Morning Star Ferry to enjoy the magnificent night view of Victoria Bay. The ferry has a history more than one hundred years, and it was the main tranportation tool for people to go from Hong Island to Kowloon.

 

Day 2 Hong Kong / Zhengzhou (B)
Transfer via: by overnight train for soft sleeper   Train No.: T98B (depart Hong Kong at 15h16, arrive Zhengzhou at 09h38 next day)


HONG KONG ISLAND TOUR to Victoria Peak, Aberdeen, Repulse Bay. Lunch is on your own. Later today you will be transferred to Kowloon train station to take afternoon train to Zhengzhou. Stay overnight on the train.

 

The Victoria Peak is Hong kong's number one tourist destination. It features the city's of oldest mode transport, the 112-year old Peak Tram and Hong Kong's most unusual building and icon, The Peak Tower. It combine shoppings, restaurants, and entertainment.

 

Aberdeen Harbour is home of hundreds of people living on fishing junks. Take sampan ride to get a close-up look at this unusual way of life.

Repulse Bay has a relaxed, resort-like atmosphere. The wide beach is popular with residents and great for sandy strolls. It features statues of Kwun Yum and Tin Hau, both protectors of fishermen.

 

Day 3 Zhengzhou / Shaolin Temple / Luoyang (L)
Transfer via: by car
Arrive Zhengzhou in the morning, pickup and transferred to take your breakfast, your tour guide would assist you (breakfast is on your own). Then drive 3 hours to visit Shaolin Monastery and Pagoda Forest in Dengfeng city, you might watch Kungfu demonstration (optional). Afterwards, drive to Luoyang city. Stay overnight in Luoyang.

 

Shaolin Temple which bore witness to the rise and fall of several dynasties, is also famous for its Martial Art (Kungfu).

 

Day 4 Luoyang / Xian (B,L)
Transfer via: coach and train
Drive 3 hours to visit Longmen Grottoes and White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist Temple in China. Transferred to Luoyang railway station for the train to Xi'an (about 5 hours running). Upon arrival Xi'an railway station, pickup and drive to the hotel.

 

The Longmen Grottoes, located near Luoyang, Henan Province, are a treasure house of ancient Buddhist cave art. The grottoes were hewed and carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), when the rulers relocated their capital at Luoyang near the end of the 5th century. At that time Buddhism was spreading east into China and was venerated by the imperial court. The Buddhists adopted the practice of carving rock temples, dedicated to the Buddha.

 

Day 5 Xian (B,L)
Full day tour to Terra Cotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Bell Tower.

 

Today will be your highlights in Xian. The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archeological excavations of the20th century. It has been regarded as THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD! Over 2,200 years ago, the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang in search of immortality, ordered the construction of a vast army of 8,000 life-sized Terra Cotta warriors and buried with him to protect his empire after his early death. They were discovered accidentally in 1974 by farmers digging a well. For history lovers, the sight is truly breathtaking.

 

Day 6 Xian / Beijing (B,L)
Transfer via: by overnight train for soft sleeper    Train No.: Z20 (depart Xian at 20h16, arrive Beijing at 07h17 next day)
Visit Shaanxi Provincial Museum, Old City Wall, the Grand Mosque. Transferred to Xi'an railway station for overnight train to Beijing.

 

Old City Wall is the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. The wall was built in the Tang dynasty (618 -907) and enlarged in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).

 

The Grand Mosque: With more than 1200 years' history, the mosque is one of the four grand Islamic mosques in China.

 

Day 7 Beijing (B,L,D)
Pick up from Beijing train station to the hotel, fresh up and have your breakfast. Visit Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace. Watch Beijing Opera in the evening.

 

Beijing Opera is a synthesis of stylized action, singing, dialogue and mime, acrobatic fighting and dancing to represent a story or depict different characters and their feelings of gladness, anger, sorrow, happiness, surprise, fear and sadness.

 

Day 8 Beijing (B,L,D)
Day tour to Badaling Great Wall, Ming Tombs (Changling) & Sacred Way. Enjoy Beijing Roasted Duck for dinner.

Travelers to Peking shouldn't miss trying the Peking Roasted Duck. To enjoy the famous duck, the Restaurant QuanJuDe is the best choice for you. It has multiple outlets in Peking (Beijing). The old restaurant first opened in 1860. The duck here is said to be the best in Peking, and the service is very good as well.

 

Day 9 Beijing / Shanghai (B,L)
Transfer via: by overnight train for soft sleeper (about 11 hours and 28 minutes)
Visit Temple of Heaven & take a Hutong Tour by rickshaw. Free time at the rest of the day. Transferred to Beijing railway station to take overnight train to Shanghai. Stay overnight on the train.

 

Day 10 Shanghai (B,L)
Morning pick up from Shanghai railway station to the hotel, fresh up and have your breakfast. Visit Yu Garden, Old Town Bazaar, Shanghai Museum & the French Concession.

 

Yu Garden. This delightfully restored labyrinth of tiny specialty shops, tea and snack houses centered around a Ming - dynasty mandarin Suzhou-style garden is a fascinating spot to people-watch over a pot of tea, to shop for unique souvenirs and to get a feel for Old Shanghai. It is well worth a meander through the Yu Garden, which has many scenic courtyards decorated with baroque rockery, pools and flora, all connected by corridors and passageways.

 

Day 11 Shanghai (B,L)
Visit Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Free time on Nanjing Road - the most famous shopping street in Shanghai.

 

Day 12 Shanghai / Depart (B)
Transfer via: by air-own arrangement 
Free time in Shanghai untill transferred to Shanghai airport for your flight back to your sweet home.
